CTAB is a cationic surfactant that has been used to complex and precipitate high MW plant DNA. Its activity is neutralized by anionic surfactants (e.g. SDS).
CTAB has bactericidal activity against both gram-positive and gram-negative organisms. It can be used with the PhytoSelect Basal Medium (P6800) for the selection of Burkholderia glumae, Acidovorax avenae, and Pectobacterium carotovorum. See product information sheet for P6800 for details.
