The great thing about plant tissue culture is that since it has been a well-established science for decades, with original formulations developed in the 1960's, a tremendous amount of research has been developed on what a specific crop needs for optimum growth. Refining general, well-developed media even further to add the components that have been shown to enhance multiplication and rooting has enabled faster production and research.
